“For a Hunger-Free Campus”

In a testament to care and community, we are thrilled to unveil our latest initiative: the weekly distribution of 50 complimentary vegetarian meals to students at our university. In collaboration with Rutgers Pantry, this endeavor not only addresses student-related food insecurities but also aims to nurture minds and bodies.

Beyond our commitment to fostering peace, harmony, and celebrating festivals, we recognize the importance of combatting food insecurity in our community. Research reveals that a staggering 30% of college students experience food insecurity, leading to lower GPAs, increased stress and depression, financial instability, and housing insecurities.

Aligned with our ethos of giving back, we draw inspiration from The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the largest non-profit organization in the world for distributing mid-day meals to school students in India. Our program is designed to provide healthy, nutrient-rich, vegan/vegetarian meals to enhance the well-being of our student community. We aspire to alleviate the challenges faced by students, promoting improved academic performance and overall well-being.

Join us in this transformative endeavor to create a campus environment where no student goes hungry, fostering a sense of community and support.
Our food distribution program will commence every Wednesday, facilitated by Rutgers Pantry, marking a significant step towards a healthier and more inclusive university experience. Together, let us make a difference and ensure that every student has access to nourishing meals and a brighter future.

“The act of giving will transform you”

According to USDA, report, more than 37 million people in the United States struggle with hunger & 14.3 million American households were food insecure with limited or uncertain access to enough food. To achieve our vision of a hunger-free America, we must address the root causes of hunger and deepen our understanding of structural and systemic inequities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities and people in need of assistance. IHF collaborates with local communities and colleges to provide needs-based on requirements. Feel free to bring something along with you and drop by our campus.

Go Green!

“He who plants a tree plants hope”

Trees are like the vacuums of our planet. Through their leaves and bark, they absorb harmful pollutants, filter the water we drink and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Did you ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree! We all benefit greatly from living among more trees. A future with fewer trees is a future less secure for humans. Join us in the effort to make New Jersey greener and fresher.

What a privilege to be here on the planet to contribute your unique donation to humankind. Each face in the rainbow of colors that populate our world is precious and special.
